The aim of the orthodontics treatment is to move the irregular or inaccurate positioned teeth and jaw into a anatomically and aesthetically desired position.
The traditional orthodontics treatment is using two different types of appliances, the removable appliance, braces, and the appliance which is adhered to the buccal or palatal/ingual surfaces of the denture. Both basic types have plenty of versions, with their advantages and disadvantages.
The use of the removable orthodontics appliances is not a new phenomenon. The first recorded note about a removable appliance is from 1836, when Friedrich Christoph Kneisel manufactured one for Price Charles of Prussia. Kneisel and Tomes applied many different techniques for the manufacturing of removable appliances, for example they moved the teeth by using wired fixed on metal plates. In the following 100 years numerous different types of appliances appeared.
Harold D. Kesling developed the tooth-positioner in 1944 (positioner). The orthodontics treatment technology applying braces is practically originated from this type.
The technology was developed by the Raintree Essix company. It was first based on the manual set-up. This meant that the orthodontics technician sawed the teeth to be moved from the plaster model and then fixed them into their new position with some material, mostly with wax or some light-cure plastic material. The thin plastic aligner is manufactured onto this new model with a vacuum forming technology. When the teeth move to the desired position after the use of the aligners, then a new impression and a new set-up and aligner follows.
This technology is perfect for the solution of minor anomalies. The big breakthrough took place with the appearance of the Align Technology, a great American company on the market. The company was established in 1997, and it is manufacturing removable orthodontics appliances since 1999 with the brand of Invisalign. This company has applied the technology on more than 3 million patients. The HappySmile system is a very similar process to this. In Hungary more than 500 patients have already got a beautiful smile with the help of this system. At Invisalign, they have developed a 3D graphic software which enables to anticipate and model the exact length of the treatment. They were in front of their competitors for many years and took advantage of their monopoly in the market. Align Technology tried to legally block or buy up all of those companies whom they thought to be potentially dangerous for their market shares. This method lasted from 1999 until almost the last few years.
The transparent aligners are consolidated, so you can wear them naturally without feeling uncomfortable! The treatment requires the wearing of the aligners at almost all times, but they are easy to be removed, which enables the convenient way of work, eating, brushing of the teeth, photographing and dating!
The aligner fits to your teeth without using screws or wires, and does not disturb you in speech. I feels like as it was not even there, but the system still works perfectly!
The material of the aligner is biocompatible, extremely thin medical plastic, which does not leak any materials during the time of wear it is for granted. We do not recommend anybody to smoke during the treatment, but in case of smoking it does not cause any problems either.
